Saudi Arabia Bans Unauthorized Entry to Makkah for Hajj

Saudi Arabia Bans Unauthorized Entry to Makkah for Hajj

Saudi Arabia has introduced strict entry restrictions for expatriates entering Makkah ahead of the upcoming Hajj season, banning individuals without official permits starting April 13.

According to the Ministry of Interior, only those holding a valid Hajj permit, a Makkah-issued residency permit (iqama), or an authorized work permit for the holy sites will be allowed to enter the city.

Authorities have confirmed that all individuals without proper documentation will be turned back at security checkpoints as part of enhanced enforcement measures.

The policy is part of the governmentโ€™s โ€œNo Hajj without a permitโ€ campaign, designed to ensure safety and better crowd management during the annual pilgrimage.

Officials also announced that April 18 (1st Dhul Qada) will be the final deadline for foreign Umrah pilgrims to leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In addition, Umrah permits issued through the Nusuk platform will be suspended from April 18 until May 31, further tightening travel regulations ahead of Hajj.

The new rules also prohibit non-Hajj visa holders from staying or entering Makkah during the restricted period, with strict enforcement planned at entry points.

Pilgrims will be required to obtain Hajj permits digitally through platforms such as Absher and Muqeem to ensure proper verification and control.

Authorities have urged full compliance with the updated regulations, warning that violations will result in strict legal action to maintain order and safety.

The measures are expected to help manage the massive influx of pilgrims and ensure a safer and more organized Hajj experience.
