Saudi-led coalition warplanes have reportedly carried out a new series of strikes across several areas of Yemen.
The reported action came after Houthi forces launched a major missile-and-drone assault on southern Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities said Tuesday’s Houthi attacks injured 73 people, including women and children.
Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV reported Wednesday that Saudi aircraft conducted 32 Airstrikes across four Yemeni governorates.
The reported locations included Marib, Al Jawf, Taiz and Hodeidah. Saudi authorities have not officially confirmed the reported strikes.
The exact number of attacks, casualties and damage could not be independently verified.
Reported Airstrikes Target Several Areas of Yemen
According to reports cited by Yemeni media, five strikes targeted Khab wa Ash Shaaf district in Al Jawf.
Another 10 strikes reportedly hit the Sirwah area of Marib. Five additional strikes were reported in Al-Barah in Taiz.
Saudi forces were also reported to have shelled Ghamr district near the border in Saada. However, reports about the latest Airstrikes have largely relied on Houthi-affiliated sources.
This means details surrounding the military action remain unconfirmed by Saudi authorities.
Houthi Attacks Target Southern Saudi Arabia
The reported strikes followed a large Houthi operation against targets in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
The Houthis said dozens of ballistic missiles and drones were used during the operation. The attacks reportedly targeted sites in Abha, Najran and Jizan.
Targets included facilities belonging to Saudi oil company Aramco and the Khamis Mushait air base.
Saudi authorities said 73 people were injured during the attacks.
Fires also broke out at several energy facilities, while some operations were temporarily disrupted. Saudi Arabia described the attacks as a dangerous escalation.
The Saudi-led coalition said it would take measures against the sources of the threat.
Houthis Claim Earlier Saudi Strikes
The Houthis said their attacks were retaliation for Saudi military operations inside Yemen.
The group claimed Saudi forces had conducted 121 Airstrikes over three days across several Yemeni provinces. However, this figure has not been independently verified.
The latest developments mark a deterioration in the security situation after years of relative calm following the 2022 UN-brokered truce.
Fighting has also intensified on several fronts involving Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces and the Houthis.
Escalation Raises Wider Concerns
The renewed confrontation could have consequences beyond Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Houthi attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure have already affected global oil markets. According to the provided information, Brent crude settled at $97.92 per barrel on Tuesday.
This was described as its highest level in roughly six weeks. Saudi Arabia has since lifted a security alert in Khamis Mushait that followed Tuesday’s attacks.
The latest exchange has renewed concerns about Yemen’s humanitarian situation, Red Sea shipping and global energy markets.
