A Pakistani driver was killed in Dubai on Saturday evening after debris from an aerial interception hit his vehicle. The incident happened in the Al Barsha area shortly after Iftar.
Authorities in Dubai confirmed that the accident occurred near Sheikh Zayed Road, behind the Mall of the Emirates. The location is one of the busiest parts of the city.
Officials said the debris struck the driver’s car and triggered a small fire. Emergency teams quickly responded to the scene. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The Al Barsha district lies along Sheikh Zayed Road, which is a major highway in Dubai. The road connects several important commercial and residential areas.
Authorities have started an investigation to understand the exact circumstances of the incident. Officials are checking whether the driver received an emergency alert on his mobile phone. They are also examining if safety instructions issued during the situation were followed.
The death has raised concerns among the Pakistani community living in Dubai and other Gulf cities. Many expatriates closely follow safety advisories during periods of regional tension.
This tragedy has increased the death toll from recent incidents in the region to four people. Among them are two Pakistani nationals.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Pakistani citizens. In a statement, he said he was saddened by the deaths caused by missile debris in Dubai.
Earlier, another Pakistani citizen named Murid Zaman was killed in Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Zayed area. Diplomatic officials said he was struck by fragments from an Iranian missile.
The broader conflict in the Middle East has intensified after military strikes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. These developments have increased tensions across several countries in the region.
Iran has carried out retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and locations hosting US military facilities. Israel has also launched new strikes in Lebanon after cross-border fire by Hezbollah.
According to Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, more than 1,300 Iranian civilians have been killed in recent attacks. Thousands of others have reportedly been injured.
