Bagher Ghalibaf has said the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States is a major political and military development. The speaker describes the agreement as an important achievement for what he referred to as the “Axis of Resistance.”
Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with Mohammed Al-Nuaimi. According to his statement, the memorandum represented a political and military success for the alliance while also marking what he described as a setback for the United States.
During the meeting, the speaker describes the MoU as both a diplomatic and strategic victory. He said the agreement reflected gains achieved on political and military fronts.
Ghalibaf also claimed that the United States and Israel could turn to military action if they believed Iran was showing signs of weakness. He said Iran should continue to demonstrate strength in response to regional challenges.
In a separate statement, Amir Hatami commented on the killing of Iran’s former supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. Hatami said those responsible would be pursued and would not avoid the consequences of their actions.
The army chief said the late leader had outlined a path based on honour, freedom and national dignity. He added that Iran’s armed forces would continue to follow that direction with determination.
Hatami also stated that the country’s military would perform its responsibilities under the leadership of Mojtaba Khamenei. He said the armed forces would carry out their duties without hesitation.
Meanwhile, funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei are continuing in Tehran. Large numbers of mourners have gathered in the capital to take part in the procession.
According to Iranian media, the funeral procession began from Tehran’s Grand Mosalla Mosque. The late leader’s body had remained there for two days as people paid their respects.
Organisers expect the funeral procession to continue for between 10 and 12 hours. The route covers around 10 kilometres and passes through several major roads and public squares in Tehran.
Reports also said the vehicle carrying Ali Khamenei’s body was prepared to join the official funeral route. Authorities have made arrangements for the large public gathering throughout the day.
After the ceremonies in Tehran, the body will be transported to the holy city of Qom. Additional funeral rites are expected to take place there before the final burial arrangements.
The developments come as regional attention remains focused on Iran’s political and military statements. The speaker describes the MoU as a significant achievement, while senior military officials continue to issue statements alongside the ongoing funeral ceremonies for the country’s former supreme leader.
