Today, the world observes the summer solstice — the longest day and shortest night of 2025. Astronomers report that daylight will last 13 hours and 41 minutes, while the night will be just 10 hours and 19 minutes long. This annual astronomical event marks the peak of sunlight hours for the year.
Experts note that beginning July 1, daylight hours will slowly begin to shorten, leading up to the autumn equinox on September 22, when day and night will be nearly equal in length. The solstice, a product of Earth’s axial tilt, plays a key role in defining seasonal transitions across the globe and is often celebrated through cultural and scientific events.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory for expected rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across various regions from June 20 to 23. The advisory covers Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The NDMA warned of possible damage from strong winds and dust storms, especially to vulnerable trees, mud houses, and weak structures. The authority also urged citizens to park vehicles in secure areas and exercise caution due to potentially reduced visibility during storms.
All relevant institutions have been directed to stay on high alert and ensure emergency response mechanisms are in place to manage any arising situation.
