Reports Claim Tehran Delays Funeral Ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

International media reports have claimed that Tehran has decided to postpone the funeral ceremony of Iranโ€™s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to these reports, the government delays funeral arrangements until later this month or early July.

The reported change in schedule was shared by Tehran Mayor Ali Reza Zakani. He stated that the official ceremony is now expected to take place either at the end of June or during the first days of July.

The decision to delays funeral proceedings has drawn attention across the region, especially as Muharram-ul-Haram approaches. Reports suggest that the final rites may now be held during the second ten days of Muharram, a period expected to run from June 26 to July 5.

Earlier reports had indicated that the funeral would be held at the beginning of Muharram. However, authorities have reportedly revised the timetable. As a result, the government now delays funeral events to a later date than initially expected.

According to the reports, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who served as Iranโ€™s Supreme Leader for more than three decades, was killed earlier this year during large-scale airstrikes on Tehran. The reports claim the strikes were carried out as part of a major military operation targeting key Iranian facilities.

The reported military campaign was said to focus on strategic infrastructure linked to Iranโ€™s defense network. According to the claims, the operation targeted several important locations across the country.

Reports also noted that the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) released video footage on social media showing scenes from the operation. However, international news agency Reuters stated that it could not independently verify the timing or exact location of the footage.

The announcement that Tehran delays funeral arrangements has led to widespread discussion regarding the timing of the ceremony and the reasons behind the revised schedule. Officials have not publicly provided detailed explanations beyond the reported change in dates.

Observers say the postponement could allow authorities more time to organize security and logistical arrangements for a large public gathering. The reported ceremony is expected to attract significant attention both inside Iran and internationally.

For now, reports indicate that the funeral is likely to take place between late June and early July, although any final confirmation will depend on official announcements from Iranian authorities.
