WASHINGTON β US President Donald Trump has unveiled a new proposal aimed at achieving long-term Gaza Peace. The plan, supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Pakistanβs leadership, seeks to end the ongoing conflict through a 20-point framework.
Speaking at a press conference in Washington, Trump described the initiative as βa big, big dayβ and said it could mark the beginning of βeternal peace in the Middle East.β The plan requires the release of all hostages within 72 hours, an immediate ceasefire, and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces once Hamasβ military infrastructure is dismantled.
Under the framework, Arab and Muslim countries will take a leading role in demilitarising Gaza and forming a transitional administration. International experts and the World Bank will provide technical and financial assistance.
Oversight will be carried out by a newly proposed βBoard of Peace,β which would include Arab leaders, Israel, and global figures such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Netanyahu welcomed the proposal, saying it aligns with Israelβs goals of securing hostages, dismantling Hamas, and ensuring Gaza does not become a future threat. However, he warned that Israel would act unilaterally if Hamas refused to accept the terms.
Pakistanβs Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also backed the initiative. He praised Trumpβs leadership and called the proposal a significant step toward regional stability. On social media, he reaffirmed Pakistanβs support for a two-state solution and highlighted recent consultations with Muslim leaders in New York as βconstructive.β
The push for Gaza Peace comes amid staggering human costs. The conflict has already claimed more than 65,000 lives, injured over 160,000 people, and displaced millions. Earlier this month, UN investigators accused Israel of committing genocide and attempting to βdestroy the Palestiniansβ through its military campaign.
With backing from Israel, Pakistan, and the international community, Trumpβs plan aims to create a pathway toward Gaza Peace, though its success will depend on cooperation from all sides.
