U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that his administration is in talks with four different groups regarding the sale of Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok. The platform’s future has been uncertain since a law, requiring its owner ByteDance to sell TikTok on national security grounds or face a ban, took effect on January 19, 2025.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his return to Washington, D.C., Trump indicated that a deal could be on the horizon. “We’re dealing with four different groups, and a lot of people want it … all four are good,” he said, without elaborating further on potential buyers or details of the negotiations.

TikTok and ByteDance have not yet responded to media inquiries, but the company has been at the center of a major political and economic debate in the U.S. over data privacy concerns and national security risks.
Among the potential buyers is former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, who has reportedly expressed interest in acquiring TikTok. Analysts estimate the value of the fast-growing social media platform to be as much as $50 billion, making it a highly sought-after asset.
As the situation unfolds, it remains unclear which group will succeed in acquiring TikTok, but Trump reassured that “all options are good.”
