Trump Warns Iran: No Nuclear Weapons or Face Military Action

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran that it must abandon its nuclear weapons program or face military action targeting its nuclear sites. Trump’s statement came after indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran, which were held in Oman over the weekend.

During a press briefing, Trump reiterated that under his administration, Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons would not be tolerated. He criticized Iran for stalling in the negotiations and claimed the country was not making substantial progress toward a deal.

The recent talks, involving U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and an Iranian official, were described as constructive but exploratory. Both sides are working toward outlining a framework for a potential agreement, but Trump made it clear that any deal must ensure Iran abandons its nuclear weapon ambitions.

When asked about the possibility of military action, Trump confirmed it was still an option. He stressed that Iran was nearing the point of developing a nuclear weapon and emphasized the urgency of taking action to prevent this outcome.

The U.S.-Iran relationship remains tense, with ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the issue. Under former President Biden, negotiations made little headway, and the 2015 nuclear deal, which aimed to limit Iran’s nuclear program, was abandoned by Trump.

While the Biden administration continues its diplomatic efforts, it has not expressed the same level of military threat as Trump. The future of these negotiations remains uncertain as both countries have different priorities.
