Trump Warns of 'Foreign Invasion' as Troops Deployed to Los Angeles

United States President Donald Trump has sparked national alarm by describing ongoing protests in Los Angeles as a “foreign invasion,” escalating tensions with California leadership and raising concerns of a deepening political crisis.

Speaking at Fort Bragg, Trump accused demonstrators of waving “foreign flags” and endangering national sovereignty. “This anarchy will not stand,” he said, warning against attacks on federal agents and suggesting the unrest was orchestrated by outside forces intent on undermining the country.

In a controversial move, the White House deployed thousands of federal troops — including 700 active duty Marines — to Los Angeles, despite strong objections from California officials. Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the deployment as “dictatorial,” saying it risked turning American cities into warzones.

Trump also used the occasion to attack Democratic leaders, including Newsom and Joe Biden, while describing protesters as “animals.” Civil rights groups like the ACLU blasted the president’s remarks, accusing him of dehumanising citizens and endangering democratic norms.

With protests continuing in defiance of curfews and military presence, Los Angeles remains on edge. Critics warn the administration’s rhetoric and actions could escalate unrest nationwide.
