Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tunisia encountered severe turbulence while approaching Tunis-Carthage International Airport.

A passenger, Marina Meskaya, shared footage from inside the aircraft on Instagram. The video showed passengers holding tightly to their seats during the turbulence.
Several frightened passengers could also be heard screaming in the footage. One passenger repeatedly expressed fears that the aircraft might crash.
Meskaya also recorded the flight information screen inside the cabin. She said the aircraft appeared to circle the area before another landing attempt.
Passenger Describes Multiple Landing Attempts
According to Meskaya, the pilots attempted to land at Tunis-Carthage International Airport three times.
She said severe turbulence affected the aircraft during each approach. The difficult conditions caused growing concern among passengers.
During the third attempt, Meskaya described feeling as though the aircraft was rapidly dropping.
However, this description reflects her personal experience during the turbulence. Available information does not indicate that the aircraft had lost control.
Some passengers reportedly became increasingly anxious as the difficult weather continued. Meskaya said passengers asked for the aircraft to land somewhere else.
The Turkish Airlines crew ultimately decided to divert the flight rather than continue attempting to land in Tunis.
Turkish Airlines Flight Lands Safely at Alternate Airport
The aircraft was diverted to Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport. The airport is located around 60 miles south of Tunis.
The flight subsequently landed safely at the alternate airport.
Following the landing, Meskaya thanked the pilots for safely bringing everyone to the ground. She confirmed that she and her mother were safe.
Other passengers aboard the flight were also reported to be safe.
Pilots can abandon an approach when weather conditions make landing unsafe. They may attempt another approach or divert to a suitable alternate airport.
Such decisions are part of standard aviation safety procedures during challenging weather conditions.
The dramatic passenger footage later circulated online and attracted attention on social media.
