A strange haze fell over Lice, a town in Turkey’s Diyarbakır province, after police burned over 20 tons of seized cannabis — unintentionally intoxicating thousands of residents.

Locals reported nausea, dizziness, and hallucinations as the massive open-air burn triggered a wave of health issues, especially among children. Authorities had arranged the drug stash to spell “LICE” before igniting it — a move that drew public outrage.
Experts slammed the method, warning that passive exposure to such fumes poses serious health risks and urging safer, filtered disposal practices in the future.
