Pakistani citizens can now use the e-Visa system for travel to the United Kingdom. The new digital process aims to make visa applications simpler and faster for applicants.
The announcement was made by the British High Commission in Islamabad. Officials said the system will help Pakistani travelers visiting the UK for tourism and business.
Under the new system, applicants will submit their visa forms online. They will also complete biometric verification as part of the process.
Once approved, travelers will receive confirmation through email. The visa will no longer be placed as a sticker in the passport.
Instead, the e-Visa will be stored digitally in the applicant’s UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. Travelers can access their visa status online at any time.
Officials explained that the digital record will replace the traditional visa sticker. This change is expected to make the visa process more convenient for applicants.
Previously, many applicants had to visit visa centers more than once. They often needed to return to collect their passports after approval.
With the e-Visa system, this extra visit will no longer be required. Applicants will be able to keep their passports once the process is completed.
Travelers will also receive a share code through the online system. This code can be used to confirm visa status when required.
Authorities say the share code may be requested at border control or by relevant authorities in the UK. The system will allow quick verification of a traveler’s immigration status.
Officials clarified that the visa rules themselves have not changed. The application requirements and eligibility criteria remain the same.
The new system only changes how visas are issued and verified. It replaces paper-based documentation with digital records.
British High Commissioner Jane Marriott described the development as a positive step for Pakistani citizens. She said the digital e-Visa system will make travel procedures easier and more accessible.
The UK government has already introduced this system for several visa categories. Earlier, on July 15, 2025, the High Commission launched the e-Visa platform for Pakistani students and workers.
Under that initiative, many students and workers no longer needed a visa sticker in their passports. Their immigration status could be viewed online through the digital platform.
Officials say the system is part of a broader move toward secure and modern immigration services. The digital e-Visa platform is designed to be simple, reliable, and efficient.

The new system is expected to benefit thousands of Pakistani travelers each year. Authorities believe it will reduce paperwork and improve the overall visa experience.
