UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appealed to Iran and Israel to show maximum restraint and prevent further escalation following a dramatic rise in hostilities between the two nations.
Posting on the social media platform X on Saturday, Guterres voiced serious concern over recent events, which include Israel’s reported strike on Iranian nuclear sites and Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks on Tel Aviv. “Now is the time to halt all acts of aggression,” he wrote, emphasizing the urgent need for peace and diplomacy to take precedence.
