The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed new maritime enforcement actions targeting vessels linked to Iranian ports. The measures are set to begin on April 13 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.
Officials said the blockade will apply to all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports and coastal regions. The operation covers key areas in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
CENTCOM stated that the restrictions will be enforced impartially. All vessels, regardless of nationality, will be subject to the same rules when operating in affected zones.
Despite the wide scope of enforcement, officials clarified an important detail. The Strait of Hormuz will remain open for transit. They confirmed that the lane unaffected policy will apply to ships passing through non-Iranian routes.
This means global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will continue. The lane unaffected assurance is aimed at reducing fears of a complete disruption in international oil transport.
CENTCOM explained that freedom of navigation will still be protected outside restricted Iranian port zones. Ships traveling to and from non-Iranian ports will not face closure of the main shipping corridor.
The command also said that commercial vessels will receive formal operational guidance. Mariners have been instructed to monitor official updates and maintain communication with US naval forces in the region.
Officials added that additional notices will be issued before enforcement begins. Shipping companies will be given clear instructions to ensure safe navigation under the new rules.
The announcement comes amid rising tensions in the region. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most critical energy routes in the world.
Authorities emphasized again that the lane unaffected condition applies specifically to transit traffic through the Strait. This distinction separates port restrictions from full maritime closure.
The development follows earlier statements from US President Donald Trump. He had warned of stricter measures targeting vessels entering or exiting Iranian-controlled waters.
As enforcement approaches, global shipping firms are closely monitoring the situation. The confirmation that key routes remain lane unaffected has provided partial relief to international markets.
