Iran Warns It Could Close Strait of Hormuz Again As US Naval Blockade Continues

Iran Warns It Could Close Strait of Hormuz Again As US Naval Blockade Continues

Tensions between the United States and Iran are increasing once again. The current ceasefire is nearing a possible closing phase if no agreement is reached soon. US President Donald Trump has warned that the situation could change within days.

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said the ceasefire may not be extended. He made it clear that the US naval blockade on Iranian ports will remain active. The warning suggests that the diplomatic window is quickly closing if both sides fail to agree on terms.

Trump also stated that military action could resume if talks collapse. He emphasized that a long-term deal must be reached by Wednesday. Otherwise, the ceasefire may come to an end. This raises concerns that the chance for peace is closing rapidly.

In response, Iran issued strong warnings of its own. Officials said they may shut down the Strait of Hormuz if pressure continues. This waterway is one of the most important global oil routes. Any disruption could impact international markets.

Iranโ€™s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said access to the strait could be restricted. He warned that continued US actions may force Iran to take control of passage. This has increased fears of a wider conflict.

The Iranian Defence Ministry also commented on the situation. A spokesperson said the strait remains open only due to the fragile ceasefire. However, this arrangement is temporary and could change quickly. The risk of the agreement closing remains high.

Despite rising tensions, Iranโ€™s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that shipping is still continuing. Commercial vessels are currently allowed to pass under the ceasefire. Trump also acknowledged that maritime traffic is ongoing.

However, both sides continue to issue firm statements. The US insists on maintaining its blockade, while Iran signals possible countermeasures. This creates uncertainty around the future of the ceasefire.

The coming days are considered critical. The deadline set for Wednesday may decide the outcome. If no agreement is reached, the window for diplomacy may fully close. The current situation shows how quickly the path to peace can shift toward conflict.
