US And Iran Exchange Airstrikes Amid Ongoing Push For Peace Deal

US And Iran Exchange Airstrikes Amid Ongoing Push For Peace Deal

Tensions between the United States and Iran intensified after fresh exchange airstrikes were reported amid rising regional military activity and ongoing diplomatic signals.

According to officials, both sides were involved in renewed exchange airstrikes, highlighting the fragile security situation in the region. Despite the escalation, diplomatic discussions are still being considered by both parties.

US President Donald Trump said Iran appeared willing to reach an agreement with Washington. He described a possible deal as beneficial for the United States and its allies. He also suggested that diplomatic progress could still be achieved.

In parallel, military developments showed continued confrontation. Kuwait reported that its air defences intercepted incoming missile and drone threats. Sirens were heard across several areas, according to the state news agency KUNA.

Iranโ€™s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that it had targeted an air base allegedly linked to US operations. The IRGC claimed the action was in response to earlier incidents involving Iranian assets. This added to the ongoing cycle of exchange airstrikes in the region.

On the other side, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that it carried out self-defence operations. It said strikes were conducted against Iranian radar systems and drone command centres located in Goruk and Qeshm Island.

CENTCOM explained that the actions followed what it described as aggressive Iranian activity. It also claimed Iranian forces had downed a US MQ-1 drone operating over international waters.

US officials further stated that fighter aircraft destroyed Iranian air defence systems, a ground control station, and unmanned aerial vehicles. They said these systems posed threats to maritime traffic in the region.

Despite the military escalation, CENTCOM confirmed no US personnel were harmed. It added that operations would continue to protect American assets while monitoring the situation closely.

The latest exchange airstrikes reflect ongoing instability, even as both sides signal potential willingness for negotiations. Analysts say the situation remains highly fragile, with diplomacy and conflict continuing side by side.
