Ceasefire Extension Between Iran And US Finalized in Talks, Trump Hold Key Approval

Ceasefire Extension Between Iran And US Finalized in Talks, Trump Hold Key Approval

The United States and Iran have reportedly agreed in principle to extend ceasefire arrangements and ease shipping restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. However, officials say the deal is still awaiting final approval from both governments.

According to multiple sources, the proposal would extend ceasefire conditions for an additional 60 days. It would also allow commercial shipping to resume more freely through the strategic waterway. The agreement aims to reduce tensions while broader negotiations continue.

Despite the reported progress, uncertainty remains. US President Donald Trump has not yet approved the deal. Iranian state media also stated that no final agreement has been confirmed.

Officials familiar with the talks said the arrangement would include steps to stabilize maritime activity. It would also address ongoing disputes over Iranโ€™s nuclear program and regional security concerns.

US Vice President JD Vance said discussions are moving in a positive direction. However, he added that no outcome is guaranteed. Negotiators continue working on final details before any formal decision.

If approved, the deal would extend ceasefire measures and mark a major shift since fighting escalated earlier this year. It would also allow limited easing of restrictions on Iranian oil exports and port access.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key global energy route. Any disruption in this region affects international oil and gas supply chains. Markets reacted quickly, with oil prices falling on expectations of improved stability.

Tensions, however, have not fully eased. Recent drone interceptions and missile activity have highlighted ongoing risks in the region. Both sides have accused each other of defensive strikes.

Iran has stated that any agreement must include sanctions relief and withdrawal of foreign military forces. The US has maintained that Iran must scale back its nuclear program.

Regional mediation efforts continue, with several countries involved in diplomatic engagement. Officials say talks remain fragile but ongoing.

If finalized, the decision to extend ceasefire could become a significant step toward reducing hostilities. However, analysts warn that without full political agreement, the situation remains unstable.

For now, both sides appear close but not yet committed to a final deal, leaving the region in a cautious pause.
