The Saudi-led coalition said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone near the holy city.
According to the coalition, the drone was stopped before entering Makkah’s restricted airspace. Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki said the drone had been launched by the Houthi movement.
He said Saudi air defenses intercepted it before it could reach the prohibited airspace. The reported incident drew attention because Makkah is Islam’s holiest city.
