Karachi Traffic Police Issue E-Challans Worth Over Rs 710 Million in One Month

KARACHI โ€“ The Karachi traffic police have released their monthly report on e-challans, revealing that over Rs 710 million in fines were imposed last month. The report covers more than 93,000 e-challans issued for various traffic violations across the city.

The highest number of fines were issued for not wearing seat belts, with 57,541 motorists penalized. Motorcyclists not wearing helmets accounted for 22,227 e-challans. According to the Karachi traffic police, fines for seat belt violations alone amounted to Rs 575.41 million, while helmet violations totaled Rs 111.35 million.

Vehicles with tinted windows also faced penalties, with 1,178 challans issued, amounting to Rs 29.45 million. Fancy number plates led to 1,278 e-challans, and 3,102 motorists were fined for signal violations.

The Karachi traffic police used trackers installed in dumpers, trailers, and water tankers to issue 1,188 challans for overspeeding. Additionally, 2,699 challans were issued for speeding by other vehicles, 611 for stop-line violations, and 426 for wrong-way driving.

The Traffic Police emphasized that the e-challan system aims to improve road safety and encourage compliance with traffic rules. Officials said the fines collected would help fund traffic management initiatives and awareness campaigns in Karachi.

The report highlights the cityโ€™s ongoing road safety challenges, particularly regarding seat belt use, helmet compliance, and speeding. Authorities urge all motorists to follow traffic rules to reduce accidents and ensure smoother traffic flow.

The Karachi traffic police stated that strict enforcement of traffic laws remains a top priority. They also reminded drivers that e-challans can be checked and paid online, making the process transparent and convenient.
