Sargodha Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Sacrificial Animal Sales Before Eid

The district administration in Sargodha has launched a large-scale operation against the Illegal sale of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha. Authorities are taking action against traders selling animals at unauthorized places across the city.

Officials said Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry ordered immediate action after noticing Illegal animal markets operating on roadsides and in residential areas. The administration directed the Sargodha Municipal Corporation (SMC) to remove such activities and shift traders to approved sale points.

Under the supervision of SMC Chief Officer Zoya Baloch, municipal teams conducted operations in different areas of the city. Several animals being sold at unauthorized locations were seized during the crackdown.

Authorities later transferred the animals to an officially approved temporary cattle market established in New Satellite Town near Tahli Chowk. Officials said this step was taken to ensure proper management and reduce traffic and sanitation problems before Eid al-Adha.

According to the administration, two temporary cattle sale points have been set up at Bhalwal Road and Tahli Chowk. Traders and buyers can use these locations without paying any charges. Officials added that basic facilities are also available at these designated markets.

The SMC warned that the Illegal sale of sacrificial animals on streets, roadsides, and public spaces would not be tolerated. Authorities said strict action would continue against anyone violating government instructions.

Officials urged traders to cooperate with the administration and move their animals to approved cattle markets. They stated that the designated locations are safer and better organized for both sellers and buyers.

Meanwhile, Sargodha Police also carried out a separate operation against animal theft. Police arrested two suspects identified as Ali Hassan and Qamar Javed.

According to police officials, the suspects were allegedly involved in more than a dozen cases of sacrificial animal theft. Authorities recovered stolen animals worth more than Rs1.7 million from their possession.

Police said investigations are ongoing to determine whether more people were involved in the theft network. Officials added that security measures have been increased in cattle markets and surrounding areas before Eid.
