WhatsApp has released a new update for iOS that introduces a refreshed “About” feature with disappearing status options. The latest version listed on the App Store is 25.35.72, and it brings several improvements aimed at making communication quicker and more meaningful.
The updated “About” section now lets users set temporary status messages that vanish after a selected time. This means users can share short updates without the need to manually remove them later. The redesigned “About” also gives people a simple way to tell others what they are doing at the moment.
These temporary messages work much like disappearing statuses, but they appear on your profile and inside chats. Users can add short text, emojis, or a combination of both. This helps contacts easily understand someone’s current mood or availability. For example, an “In a meeting” note can signal that a person may not reply immediately.
Even with version 25.35.72 installed, the new About feature may not show up for everyone right away. WhatsApp has confirmed that the rollout will take place gradually over the next few weeks. This staggered release is also mentioned clearly in the App Store changelog, meaning some users will receive the update earlier than others.
The feature is designed to be more interactive and easier to access. When you open a chat, a small bubble appears below the contact’s profile picture. This bubble shows the person’s current About message. It also appears in the chat information screen, making it easier to keep track of someone’s current status.
Users can select how long their temporary About message stays visible. The app offers several duration choices, including a few hours, one day, one week, or one month. WhatsApp also displays the remaining time before the status disappears.
This update helps keep profiles tidy and relevant. Earlier, many users kept the same “About” message for years. With disappearing options, updates stay fresh and reflect real-time situations. Emoji support also adds clarity. A suitcase emoji can indicate travel, while a book emoji may show that someone is studying.
As WhatsApp continues rolling out this feature, more users will see it in the coming weeks. Keeping the app updated ensures quicker access to the new disappearing “About” experience.
