The military on Saturday confirmed the killing of nine terrorists in two major intelligence-based actions carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the ISPR report, the coordinated KP operation took place in Tank and Lakki Marwat districts after security agencies received information about militant presence.
The ISPR report stated that seven terrorists linked to the banned TTP were killed in the Tank operation. Security forces surrounded the hideout and engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire. The statement said that all seven were eliminated before they could escape.
In the second KP operation, conducted in Lakki Marwat, two more militants were neutralised. The ISPR report added that weapons and ammunition were seized from both locations. Officials said the terrorists were involved in attacks on security personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilians.
The media wing also revealed that the militants belonged to the group referred to as Fitna al Khawarij, a term used for TTP-linked elements. Security forces are now carrying out sanitisation efforts to clear the region of any remaining threats. The ISPR report emphasised that operations under the Azm-i-Istehkam strategy will continue to target foreign-sponsored terrorism across the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the forces for their successful KP operation, saying that Pakistan’s security personnel were achieving significant gains in the national counterterrorism drive. In a message shared on social media, he said the nation stands with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
