Adiala Jail Officials Breaks Silence on ‘Secret Plan’ to Shift Imran Khan to Another Prison

ISLAMABAD — Adiala Jail authorities have firmly denied rumours suggesting that PTI founder Imran Khan was about to be moved from the high-security facility. The clarification came after widespread reports created confusion and triggered a wave of political speculation across the country.

Officials from Adiala Jail stated that the circulating claims were “pure speculation” and had no basis in fact. They confirmed that Imran Khan remains inside the prison under strict security protocols. He continues to receive regular medical check-ups and is being provided with proper meals, as per jail regulations.

A recent medical assessment by a five-member team from PIMS also declared Khan to be in stable condition. This report further weakened claims that authorities were preparing to transfer him to another location. Jail officials stressed that no administrative decision has been made, calling the entire narrative “devoid of merit.”

The clarification followed hours after several reports claimed the federal government was actively considering shifting the former prime minister. According to those earlier claims, authorities believed that PTI was trying to “destabilise the country” through protests and sit-ins, which allegedly served as a cover for creating wider unrest.

Adding to the political tension, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikhtiar Wali, addressed a press conference where he warned that the political confrontation had reached a critical stage. Although he avoided naming Imran Khan directly, he hinted that the government was reviewing proposals, including a possible move of the ‘prisoner’ out of Adiala.

Wali also targeted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, accusing him of sheltering individuals involved in drug smuggling. He alleged that members of Afridi’s family were linked to narcotics operations under his protection.

Tensions around Adiala Jail have been high in recent weeks. Chief Minister Afridi held a 16-hour sit-in outside the facility, demanding fair treatment for Khan. Before that, protests by Imran Khan’s sisters led to their brief detention, further fuelling outrage among PTI supporters.

The latest statement by prison authorities aims to put an end to speculation, though political circles continue to monitor the situation closely amid rising tensions.
