Islamabad Airport Becomes Pakistan’s First 3-Star Airport

Islamabad airport ranked as Pakistan’s first 3-star airport in a recent assessment by Skytrax. This recognition marks a major milestone for the country’s aviation sector.

The Skytrax rating evaluates airports based on passenger amenities, service quality, and overall management. Islamabad airport ranked highly for its improved facilities and services, setting a new standard for air travelers in Pakistan.

Dubai Airport also achieved a 3-star rating in the same Skytrax assessment. Meanwhile, Lahore and Karachi airports retained their 2-star ratings, highlighting the growing gap in airport standards across Pakistan.

This achievement reflects the ongoing efforts to enhance passenger experience at Islamabad International Airport. The airport ranked among the world’s reputable facilities for offering comfort, efficiency, and modern amenities to travelers.

The announcement was made during the 2025 World Airline Awards, held on June 17 at the Paris Air Show. The event took place at the Air and Space Museum in the iconic Hall of Eight Columns at Le Bourget Airport. Qatar Airways won the award for the world’s best airline at the ceremony, which was attended by over 500 guests from international airlines.

Skytrax, established in 1999, is a globally recognized airline and airport rating system. The agency evaluates front-line services, passenger satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Its Airline Star Rating programme is considered a benchmark for global aviation standards.

The news that Islamabad airport ranked as Pakistan’s first 3-star airport is expected to boost tourism and enhance the country’s reputation in international air travel. Authorities have emphasized continued improvements to maintain high standards and possibly achieve higher ratings in the future.

The recognition is seen as a positive step toward modernizing Pakistan’s airports and providing travelers with world-class facilities. Islamabad airport ranked above expectations, showing progress and commitment to improving passenger experiences.
