Barrister Gohar Calls Toshakhana II Verdict ‘Justice Murdered,’ PTI Responds

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders strongly condemned the Toshakhana II Verdict, calling it unprecedented and unconstitutional. The party warned that the ruling could deepen political instability and weaken public trust in justice.

At a joint press conference, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the verdict sentenced the party’s founder and Bushra Bibi to 10 years each. He described the decision as a grave miscarriage of justice, claiming it amounted to punishing a person multiple times for the same offence. “Justice has been murdered today,” Gohar said, expressing nationwide disappointment over the ruling.

Barrister Gohar criticized the judicial process, alleging that the trial was rushed, allowing no proper cross-examination or submission of documents. He recalled that previous allegations regarding Toshakhana gifts had already been addressed, yet another trial was conducted on the same issue. He warned that repeated prosecutions could result in combined sentences reaching up to 140 years for Bushra Bibi if similar rulings continue.

The PTI chairman also raised concerns about extra-constitutional decisions affecting not just politicians but judges at all levels. He claimed that the democratic process in Pakistan is under threat, emphasizing that the party would not allow undemocratic forces to take control.

Despite criticizing the Toshakhana II Verdict, PTI leaders vowed to protest strictly within constitutional limits. Secretary General Salman Akram Raja called the issue a collective struggle for principles, not a fight for power. Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser announced that PTI would observe February 8 as a black day and release white papers on the economy and judiciary.

Barrister Gohar concluded that the PTI founder remains imprisoned for the freedom of the people and appealed to authorities not to block the public’s path, warning that people will ultimately find their own way if hindered.
