Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has been named the safest city in the world for 2025, according to a new global report released by CEOWORLD magazine. The ranking places Abu Dhabi at the top of more than 300 cities assessed worldwide, highlighting its strong performance in public safety, crime prevention, and urban security.
The report shows that Abu Dhabi achieved an impressive safety index score of 97.73. This high score allowed the city to surpass major global capitals and secure first place in the overall rankings. Experts involved in the study evaluated factors such as crime rates, personal safety, infrastructure security, and the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies.
Taipei was ranked second on the list, reflecting its stable public safety environment and efficient policing system. Doha, the capital of Qatar, secured the third position, continuing its reputation as one of the safest cities in the Middle East. Several European cities also performed well, including Muscat, The Hague, Bern, and Munich, all of which were ranked within the top ten safest cities globally.
Other cities from the United Arab Emirates also featured prominently in the rankings. Ajman, Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah were included among the safest cities in the world, further reinforcing the UAE’s strong regional presence in global safety assessments. Analysts attribute this success to advanced surveillance systems, strict law enforcement, and well-planned urban development.
In contrast, no city from Pakistan made it into the top 50 safest cities list. Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, was ranked 77th overall. Lahore and Karachi placed much lower, ranking 112th and 257th, respectively. These rankings highlight ongoing challenges related to crime control and urban security in Pakistani cities.
Experts suggest that effective crime reduction policies, improved policing, and better urban planning are essential for improving safety rankings in the future. Increased investment in public security infrastructure could also play a significant role.
