Sessions Court Stays Arrest of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in May 9 Cases

Sessions Court Stays Arrest of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in May 9 Cases

A local court in Islamabad has granted interim relief to Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in multiple legal cases. The court has stayed their arrest in five cases until January 27. These cases include matters related to the May 9 incidents.

The order was issued by the Islamabad District and Sessions Court. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the case. The court directed that the arrest of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi remain suspended until the next hearing.

The court also extended their pre-arrest bail. This provides temporary legal protection while their bail applications are still pending. The relief applies to all five cases currently under consideration.

During the hearing, arguments on the bail applications were not presented. This was due to the unavailability of Imran Khan. As a result, the judge adjourned the proceedings without hearing detailed arguments.

The court instructed Imran Khan to ensure his presence at the next hearing. He may appear either in person or through a video link. Following this direction, the court fixed January 27 as the next date of hearing.

Advocate Shamsa Kayani represented Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in court. She requested more time to argue the bail applications. She told the court that arguments could not proceed without her clientโ€™s presence. The judge accepted the request and granted an adjournment.

The PTI founder is facing several serious charges. These include cases linked to the May 9 violence. Other allegations involve attempted murder and the submission of fake receipts. Authorities have registered these cases in different jurisdictions.

Bushra Bibi is also facing legal trouble. A separate case accuses her of submitting fake receipts. Both accused have denied the allegations against them. Their legal team maintains that the cases are politically motivated.

With interim relief now in place, both are required to follow court instructions. They must ensure compliance with legal procedures ahead of the next hearing. Any failure to appear may affect their bail status.

The developments come amid ongoing political and legal challenges for the PTI leadership. Supporters continue to closely follow court proceedings. The January 27 hearing is expected to be important, as arguments on the bail applications may finally be heard.
