Celebrate New Year Sea View and Karachi Roads Open, Says Police Chief

Karachi police have announced strict security measures across the city as residents prepare to celebrate New Year. Authorities confirmed that no area, including the popular Sea View, will be closed, allowing citizens full access to public spaces.

Large crowds are expected at Sea View, Karachi’s favorite tourist destination, where people gather to celebrate New Year. In previous years, overcrowding and aerial firing led to incidents, prompting police to strengthen security this year.

Speaking to media, Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Javed Alam Odho said comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure public safety. “We are making strict security arrangements in Karachi on the occasion of New Year. No area will be closed for the public,” he stated.

More than 6,000 police personnel have been deployed across Karachi to maintain law and order, manage traffic, and prevent illegal activities. The police chief emphasized that hooliganism, aerial firing, and other violations will not be tolerated. “Individuals involved in unlawful activities will be identified through Safe City cameras,” he added.

Odho also warned that cases registered over aerial firing will be treated as attempted murder, reflecting the seriousness of such offenses. Traffic police will be stationed at key points to ensure smooth movement and prevent congestion.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar extended greetings to citizens, urging them to enjoy celebrations responsibly. He requested the public avoid aerial firing, one-wheeling, and other risky behavior. Authorities have been directed to take immediate action against violators without discrimination.

“The protection of people’s lives and property is the top priority of the provincial government,” the minister said. He added that foolproof security arrangements are in place across Karachi until late night, appealing for public cooperation and adherence to alternative traffic routes where required.
