The Punjab government has launched the Green Property Certificate system in eight districts as part of its ongoing land reform initiative. The announcement comes as a major step towards securing property ownership and reducing disputes.
The initial phase of the program covers Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Wazirabad. Officials said the initiative will expand to other districts in the province in later phases.
The primary aim of the Green Property Certificates is to provide legal security for citizens’ properties. The certificates are designed to eliminate fraudulent land transactions and ensure authenticity in property records.
According to the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), the Green Property system is a “game-changing” initiative. The chairman emphasized that it will protect property owners’ rights and significantly reduce land-related disputes.
Under this system, all certificates will be issued by the Punjab government. This move is expected to foster greater transparency in land dealings and streamline property management across the province.
Officials also highlighted that the Green Property Certificates will increase confidence among property owners. Citizens will now have official proof of ownership, making it easier to buy, sell, or transfer properties without legal complications.
The initiative is part of a larger effort by the Punjab government to modernize land records and promote efficiency in property management. Authorities believe that the system will prevent illegal land grabbing and strengthen trust in official land documentation.
By introducing the Green Property Certificate, Punjab aims to create a more secure and transparent property market. The government plans to raise awareness among citizens to ensure smooth adoption of the new system.
