FIFA president Gianni Infantino has announced plans to visit Pakistan soon, highlighting FIFAโs commitment to developing football in the country.
Speaking on Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the FIFA president said he had informed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about his intention to travel to Pakistan. He described the visit as a key step to strengthen football structures nationwide.
Infantino expressed confidence in the recent changes within the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), praising the new leadership. โI will come to Pakistan very soon. I promised the prime minister. We now have a new president of the federation who is doing a fantastic job,โ he said.
The FIFA president also emphasized Pakistanโs football potential and his vision to elevate the country among Asiaโs leading teams. โPakistan is a great football country. We need to bring Pakistan to the top of Asia for sure. We are working on that,โ Infantino added.
Recent developments show growing cooperation between Pakistan and FIFA. In December, FIFA appointed Pakistani lawmaker Syeda Amnah Batool to its Institutional Reforms Committee, reflecting a stronger institutional partnership.
Earlier, in November 2025, FIFA Senior Vice President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa visited Pakistan to discuss football infrastructure, governance, and long-term development plans with officials and government representatives.
The FIFA presidentโs visit is expected to focus on improving grassroots programs, enhancing club management, and supporting initiatives to train coaches and referees. Officials in Pakistan view the visit as an opportunity to showcase progress and gain technical support for further development.
With FIFAโs engagement increasing, the country aims to strengthen domestic leagues, expand youth academies, and improve national team performance. Infantinoโs upcoming visit is seen as a milestone in Pakistanโs football journey and a chance to align with international standards.
FIFA president Infantinoโs commitment signals renewed optimism for Pakistani football fans, players, and administrators, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the global governing body and local authorities.
