Hub Canal Water Pipeline Repair Work Completed, Say Officials

Karachi water officials announced on Tuesday that the repair of the broken 33-inch pipeline from Hub Canal has been work completed successfully. The pipeline supplies water to Baldia and Orangi towns.

The repair was carried out jointly by the Karachi Water Corporation and the Baldia Town administration. Officials said the pipeline was checked by releasing water at low pressure before resuming normal operations.

“The work completed on the pipeline ensures a reliable water supply to affected areas,” a water corporation spokesperson said. Full water supply is expected to resume within a few days.

The pipeline had been damaged earlier due to illegal diversion by the water mafia, which collected water in ponds and sold it through tankers. ARY News reported the breach yesterday, prompting immediate action by authorities.

Repair crews began work as soon as the damage was reported. They replaced the broken sections and secured the line to prevent future breaches. Officials confirmed that the work completed was carried out efficiently and within a short time.

Residents of Baldia and Orangi towns have been facing water shortages due to the pipeline damage. With the repairs completed, water supply is expected to improve significantly, reducing reliance on private water vendors.

Authorities also said they will monitor the pipeline regularly to prevent further illegal diversions. Security measures have been increased around critical water supply points to stop the water mafia from tampering with the line.

The Karachi Water Corporation emphasized that ongoing maintenance and monitoring are essential for uninterrupted water supply. The successful work completed highlights coordination between local administration and water authorities in addressing public needs.

Officials urged residents to report any water theft or illegal activities near the pipeline to ensure proper supply to the city’s neighborhoods.
