Government of Punjab has officially released the Basant anthem, #PhirAaiBasant, celebrating the cultural festival under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz. The anthem aims to highlight Punjab’s rich heritage and revive public interest in this traditional festival.
This initiative reflects a long-standing vision associated with Nawaz Sharif, focusing on the preservation of Punjab’s culture and shared traditions. By releasing the anthem, the government emphasizes the importance of observing Basant in a regulated and safe manner, balancing enjoyment with public safety.
To ensure a secure celebration, a series of rules and regulatory measures have been implemented. Roof NOCs are now mandatory for kite flying, and the sale and purchase of kites and strings are allowed only through government-authorised dealers. For aviation safety, kite flying near Lahore Airport has been strictly prohibited.
Motorcycle riders are also required to use safety wire during the festival days to reduce risks of injury. The Punjab government has further announced free public transport services on February 6, 7, and 8, encouraging citizens to use public transport instead of motorcycles and private vehicles.
Authorities said these arrangements are designed to allow Basant to be celebrated safely, responsibly, and in an organised way. The focus is on creating a festive environment while reducing accidents and ensuring public order.
The official Basant anthem, #PhirAaiBasant, is now available on all digital platforms of the Government of Punjab. Officials encourage people to enjoy the festival while following the guidelines, highlighting a modern approach to preserving a historic cultural tradition.
