An Islamabad district court has ordered the arrest of former Azad Kashmir prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in a case linked to the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport. The order came during a hearing held under Judicial Magistrate Murad Abbas.
According to reports, the court reviewed the case details during the proceedings. The judge observed that it seemed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had prepared a report in favor of the accused. This remark was made while examining the progress of the investigation.
The court then issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas. Authorities were directed to carry out the arrest and produce him before the court at the next hearing. The order was issued after the former prime minister did not appear despite repeated summons.
Court officials said the accused had been asked to attend the hearings several times. However, he failed to show up. Because of his absence, the court decided to take stricter legal action. The non-bailable warrants were issued to ensure his appearance.
The case relates to the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport. Investigators are looking into how the passport was used and whether any rules were violated. Officials have not yet shared full details about the allegations.
Legal experts say the issuance of non-bailable warrants is a serious step. It shows that the court wants the accused to appear in person. Once the arrest is made, he will be brought before the court to face the charges.
