Child health experts in Karachi are warning parents about the growing risks of mobile phone use among young children’s. Doctors say early exposure to screens can harm physical and mental development.
Speaking on ARY News program Bakhabar Savera, pediatrician Dr. Waseem Ahmed Jamalvi advised parents to avoid giving phones to children under five. He said mobile use at a young age can damage children’s growth.
Dr. Jamalvi explained that long screen time can cause weak eyesight and sleep problems. It can also lead to mood changes and poor attention. He added that children’s learning skills may suffer.

Dr. Jamalvi stressed that children learn mostly from their parents. He said many mothers give phones to keep children quiet. This habit may seem helpful but causes long-term harm.
He also referred to global guidelines. According to him, the Australian government has restricted social media use for children under 16. The World Health Organization advises no screen time for children under two.
The doctor said parents should also change their own habits. He recommended reducing phone use in front of children. This helps create a healthier environment.
