The Lahore Board has made biometric attendance mandatory for all students appearing in matriculation and intermediate exams in 2026.
Students will now have to provide digital verification before entering examination halls. The new system is designed to improve exam security and prevent impersonation or cheating.
Principals of schools and colleges in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib have been instructed to ensure full compliance. All institutions must arrange the required biometric devices.
Before entering the exam halls, students must undergo biometric attendance verification. Both thumbs will be scanned and matched with records in the Lahore Boardโs system. Officials stressed that failing to provide fingerprints may result in denial of entry.
โThis step is a major milestone in modernizing and securing the academic assessment process,โ said a Lahore Board spokesperson. โWe aim to ensure fair and transparent examinations for all candidates.โ
The collected biometric data will be uploaded directly to the boardโs software system. This will help monitor attendance and prevent impersonation during exams. Educational authorities have confirmed that the process will be simple and time-efficient to avoid delays.
In a related development, matriculation exams have already begun in Balochistan under tight security. CM Sarfraz Bugti announced that exams started on February 10, 2026, with strict measures to prevent malpractice.
Education officials in Lahore emphasized that biometric attendance will now be a permanent part of examination protocols. They encouraged students and parents to cooperate fully to ensure smooth implementation.
This initiative highlights the growing use of digital tools in Pakistanโs education sector, aiming to maintain integrity, efficiency, and accountability in the examination process.
