The Islamic Ideology Council (IIC) has announced official rates for Zakat al-Fitr, fidyah, and kaffarah for the upcoming Ramazan 2026. These guidelines aim to help Muslims fulfill their religious obligations while supporting those in need.
For Zakat al-Fitr, the rate varies depending on the staple food chosen. For wheat, the rate is Rs300 per person. Barley has been set at Rs1,110. Those paying with dates must give Rs1,800, raisins Rs3,800, and dried apricots (munqa) Rs5,400 per person.
Zakat al-Fitr can be paid any time during Ramazan but must be given before the Eid prayer. This ensures that the needy can benefit from it in time for Eid celebrations.
Fidyah applies to individuals unable to fast due to illness, pregnancy, or other valid reasons. The daily fidyah rate for wheat is Rs300, totaling Rs9,000 for 30 days. For barley, the daily rate is Rs1,100, amounting to Rs33,000 for the month.
Those paying fidyah with dates must give Rs1,600 per day, totaling Rs48,000 for Ramazan. Raisins are set at Rs3,800 per day, or Rs114,000 for 30 days. Munqa is Rs5,400 per day, reaching Rs162,000 for the full month.
Kaffarah applies to those who deliberately break a fast without a valid reason. The council stated it can be fulfilled by fasting for 60 consecutive days or by feeding 60 eligible individuals two meals each.
The IIC emphasized that these rates provide clarity and guidance for Muslims. By following them, worshippers can ensure their obligations are met correctly. Additionally, these contributions support the less fortunate, especially during Ramazan when charitable giving is encouraged.

The council said these measures help maintain the spiritual significance of Ramazan while promoting social responsibility. Muslims are encouraged to plan their Zakat, fidyah, and kaffarah payments in advance to benefit those in need and complete their religious duties properly.
