103 UHS Students Get Laptops Under PM Youth Scheme — What It Means for Digital Learning

A total of 103 students at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) received laptops under Phase IV of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme. The distribution ceremony was held on the university campus on Friday.

The initiative aims to support students by providing modern technology for education and research. Officials say the program is designed to improve digital access for students across the country.

Provincial Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique attended the event as the chief guest. During the ceremony, he personally distributed laptops to students who were selected on merit.

While addressing the gathering, the minister congratulated the successful students. He said their achievement reflects dedication, discipline, and hard work.

He highlighted the importance of technology in modern education. According to him, laptops are no longer a luxury for students. Instead, they have become a basic requirement for academic success.

The minister explained that digital devices help students access global learning resources. These include research journals, online libraries, and educational platforms.

He also appreciated the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme for supporting talented students. The program aims to create equal opportunities for young people in education.

Khawaja Salman Rafique thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for expanding youth development initiatives. He said such programs are helping students improve their academic skills and professional knowledge.

The minister also spoke about education initiatives launched by the Punjab government. He said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz continues to support students through multiple programs.

These include the provincial laptop scheme and the Honhaar scholarship program. Both initiatives aim to help students continue their education without financial barriers.

During the ceremony, another important academic project was also launched. The minister inaugurated the “Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore Centre for Faculty Excellence.”

The center aims to strengthen teaching standards and academic development at the university. It will provide training and professional support for faculty members.

Vice Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore addressed the event during the inauguration. He said the new center represents an important step in improving medical education.

According to him, the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to building strong intellectual foundations in healthcare education.
