Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that hundreds of Taliban militants were killed during Pakistan’s retaliatory operations in Afghanistan. The operations were launched after cross-border attacks targeting Pakistani security forces.
According to Tarar, a total of 415 Afghan Taliban fighters have been killed, while 580 others were injured during the ongoing operation. The government described the action as part of a broader effort to protect Pakistan’s border and prevent further militant attacks.
The military campaign has been named Operation Ghazb-lil-Haq. Officials say the operation includes both ground and aerial actions against Taliban positions inside Afghanistan.
Tarar stated that Pakistani forces have destroyed 182 Taliban check posts during the operation. In addition, 31 check posts have been captured by security forces. Authorities believe these locations were being used to launch attacks across the border.
The minister also reported that 115 Taliban tanks, armed vehicles, and artillery guns were destroyed. Officials say these weapons posed a threat to border security and needed to be neutralized.
According to the government, 46 different locations in Afghanistan were targeted through aerial strikes. These strikes were aimed at weakening Taliban strongholds and limiting their ability to organize cross-border operations.
Pakistani authorities said the decision to launch Operation Ghazb-lil-Haq came after repeated attacks by militant groups. Security officials believe these groups were operating from areas near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The government explained that the purpose of the operation is to ensure long-term security. Officials said the actions are meant to send a strong message to militant organizations involved in cross-border violence.
Authorities also emphasized that protecting Pakistani citizens and security personnel remains a top priority. The operation is part of broader efforts to stabilize the border region.
Security analysts say the campaign highlights the seriousness of the threat posed by Taliban militants involved in cross-border activities. They also note that the situation could influence relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the future.
