Police in Mumbai have arrested a 28-year-old man over an alleged sexual assault case. The suspect allegedly disguised himself as a transgender person to enter a woman’s home.

According to police, the footage allegedly showed a man wearing a sari after the incident. He was reportedly seen boarding an autorickshaw and leaving the area.
Investigators traced the suspect’s movements using the available CCTV recordings. Police later arrested him from a settlement in the Khari Gaon area of Thane.
Police allege that the suspect entered the woman’s home after posing as someone who could perform a ritual. He reportedly claimed the ritual could remove the effects of the evil eye.
The suspect allegedly convinced the woman to accompany him to a bedroom. Police said he then threatened her before allegedly sexually assaulting her.
Investigators are also examining the suspect’s alleged use of different disguises. Police said he reportedly used the appearance of a transgender person and a beggar.
Officials believe these disguises may have helped him approach people without raising suspicion. Investigators are now working to establish whether similar incidents are linked to him.
The arrest followed the examination of CCTV footage and other available evidence. Police are continuing to question the suspect as part of the investigation.
