Kerosene Oil Price Soars Rs130, Reaches Rs318.81 per Litre in Pakistan

Kerosene Oil Price Soars Rs130, Reaches Rs318.81 per Litre in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD โ€“ Pakistanis are facing another blow as Kerosene Oil prices surged sharply, following the recent historic hike in petrol rates. The government has raised the price of Kerosene Oil by Rs130.81 per litre, pushing the new rate to Rs318.81 per litre.

This steep rise adds to the financial strain on poor and middle-class families, who are already struggling with higher petrol and diesel prices. Household budgets are under pressure as the cost of essential fuels climbs.

Alongside Kerosene Oil, light diesel prices were also increased. Light diesel now costs Rs235.1 per litre after a Rs67.82 paisa hike. The government confirmed that a petroleum levy of Rs20.36 per litre has been imposed on Kerosene Oil, while light diesel carries a levy of Rs15.84 per litre.

Experts warn that these consecutive fuel price increases could worsen inflation, affecting the daily expenses of millions of Pakistanis. With petrol, diesel, and Kerosene Oil now significantly more expensive, families are forced to spend more on basic energy needs.

The Ministry of Energy stated that the adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to align domestic fuel prices with international market rates. However, critics argue that the timing and size of the increases place a heavy burden on ordinary citizens.

Many households, particularly in rural areas, rely heavily on Kerosene Oil for cooking and lighting. The latest price jump may lead to reduced consumption and increased financial stress. Analysts also note potential effects on transportation costs, which could trigger broader price increases for goods and services.

The government urges citizens to remain patient as fuel markets stabilize, while opposition parties call for measures to protect vulnerable families from rising energy costs.

The recent surge in Kerosene Oil prices highlights the ongoing challenges of inflation and energy affordability in Pakistan, raising serious concerns about the economic strain on low- and middle-income households.
