The district administration of Islamabad has introduced a digital system to track petrol stocks at 145 fuel stations across the city in real time.
The City Islamabad App now features an option for users to monitor fuel pump transactions. Petrol stations are required to upload daily stock details, and officials warned that failing to comply will result in action against pump owners.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon said the digital system will allow authorities to identify shortages immediately and take prompt action to prevent supply disruptions.
This initiative comes amid easing concerns over petrol availability in Pakistan. The country recently received its first crude oil shipment following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, caused by tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran.
Port authorities confirmed that a gasoline-laden vessel, MT Nave Atropos, carrying 50,000 metric tonnes of petrol, has already docked at the FOTCO Terminal in Karachiโs Port Qasim.
Two more fuel shipments are expected to arrive soon. MT Spross Two will dock today at 8:30 pm with 55,000 tonnes of petrol, while MT Sea Clipper is scheduled to arrive on 11 March at noon carrying 34,000 tonnes.
Port officials added that a vessel from Fujairah is already anchored at Port Qasim, and another ship carrying fuel has departed Oman, en route to Pakistan. These digital system upgrades, combined with incoming shipments, are expected to stabilize petrol supplies nationwide.
Authorities said that real-time monitoring through the digital system will make fuel management more transparent. Consumers and officials can now track stock levels efficiently, helping prevent panic buying and shortages.
The move also complements ongoing efforts by Pakistanโs energy sector to ensure uninterrupted fuel delivery despite regional conflicts. Officials hope the system will provide accurate data for decision-making and strengthen supply chain management across the country.
The Islamabad administration plans to continue expanding the digital system to cover more fuel stations, aiming for a fully automated monitoring network in the near future.
