The Israeli military reported that air defences responded to missile attacks from Iran on Thursday. Medics confirmed that 2 wounded were lightly injured, and some property damage occurred.
A spokesman for Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency service said several houses in the central city of Kafr Qassem were damaged. Mayor Haitham Taha added that cluster munitions caused much of the destruction.
The military stated that Home Front Command rescuers were sent to an impact site in central Israel. Two separate statements, issued about 20 minutes apart, confirmed missiles were launched from Iran toward Israeli territory.
“Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military said. Both statements later announced that people were allowed to leave protected spaces across the country.
Air raid sirens sounded in central Israel, including Tel Aviv, parts of Jerusalem, and Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. Residents were urged to stay alert as defence systems intercepted incoming missiles.
The attacks came more than 14 hours after earlier missile warnings from Iran. Overnight, central Israel was also targeted from Lebanon, where the Iran-backed group Hezbollah claimed attacks on military sites. Israeli media reported that six rockets were intercepted.
Officials confirmed that despite the interception efforts, 2 wounded occurred, though injuries were reported as minor. Authorities are continuing to assess property damage and provide assistance to affected residents.
