The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a significant increase in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), adding further pressure on household energy expenses across Pakistan.
According to an official notification issued by OGRA, the price of LPG has been increased by Rs78.28 per kilogram, effective from April 1. The revised rate sets the new LPG price at Rs304.12 per kilogram nationwide.
Following the increase, the cost of a standard 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has risen sharply. Consumers will now pay Rs3,588.59 per cylinder, reflecting an increase of Rs923.71 compared to the previous price.
Officials stated that the revised pricing has been determined under the regulatorโs monthly price adjustment mechanism, which factors in international market trends and exchange rate fluctuations. The hike is expected to impact households that rely heavily on LPG for cooking and heating, particularly in areas without access to natural gas supply.
Energy analysts warn that the increase may further raise living costs, especially in rural and off-grid regions where LPG remains the primary fuel source. With the new rates coming into force immediately from April 1, consumers are likely to feel the financial impact in upcoming monthly household budgets.
