Wang Yi and Ishaq Dar held high-level talks in Beijing, focusing on escalating tensions in the Middle East and possible diplomatic solutions to restore regional stability.
According to Pakistanโs Foreign Office, both countries jointly presented a five-point proposal aimed at promoting peace, preventing further escalation, and encouraging dialogue among all parties involved in the conflict. The discussions highlighted growing international concern over instability affecting the Gulf region.
China and Pakistan stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing that humanitarian assistance must be allowed to reach affected populations without obstruction. Both sides warned that continued violence could worsen the humanitarian situation and destabilize global security.
The joint proposal also called for the early launch of peace negotiations while safeguarding the sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and security of Iran and Gulf nations. The two countries urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid the use or threat of force, advocating diplomatic engagement as the only sustainable path forward.
Both ministers emphasized protecting civilians and non-military targets during hostilities. They called for an immediate halt to attacks on critical infrastructure, including energy facilities, water systems, and peaceful nuclear installations, while stressing strict adherence to international humanitarian law.
Another key focus was maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, where both nations urged measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships and civilian vessels, alongside efforts to normalize global trade routes as soon as possible.
China and Pakistan also underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation, supporting a stronger role for the United Nations in establishing a comprehensive peace framework aligned with the UN Charter and international law. Officials reiterated that long-term stability can only be achieved through diplomacy and dialogue.
Earlier, Ishaq Dar arrived in Beijing on an official visit, where Chinese officials reaffirmed the strength of the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries. Both sides noted continued coordination on regional and global issues as a reflection of their close diplomatic ties.
The meeting follows earlier diplomatic efforts hosted by Pakistan in Islamabad involving foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Tรผrkiye, where regional leaders reviewed strategies aimed at achieving a ceasefire and lasting peace in the Middle East.
