The Government of Punjab has announced a six-month extension of its free solar panel scheme, increasing funding to expand its reach.
The decision was made on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with the new deadline now set for December 2026.
Under the revised plan, more than 94,000 solar systems will be distributed across the province at an estimated cost of nearly Rs. 10 billion.
The initiative targets low-income households, with solar systems to be provided free of cost through a transparent balloting process.
Officials confirmed that the scheme will cover all districts and tehsils of Punjab to ensure wider accessibility and equal distribution.
Authorities also revealed that over 800,000 applications have already been received, prompting the extension to meet growing public demand.
