Fuel Prices Rise Across Pakistan After Petrol Levy increase

Fuel Prices Rise Across Pakistan After Petrol Levy increase

The Pakistani government has increased fuel prices after raising the Petrol Levy on petroleum products. The decision was confirmed by officials from the Petroleum Division. This move has led to a sharp rise in petrol and diesel rates across the country.

According to official sources, the Petrol Levy on petrol has been increased by Rs 26.77 per litre. It now stands at Rs 107.38 per litre. Earlier, the levy was Rs 80.61 per litre. However, the Petrol Levy on diesel remains unchanged at zero.

Following this change, the Finance Division issued a revised price notification. The new rates came into effect on April 25. Petrol prices have increased by Rs 26.77 per litre. Diesel prices have also risen by the same amount.

With the latest adjustment, petrol is now priced at Rs 393.35 per litre. High-speed diesel is now available at Rs 380.19 per litre. These changes reflect the impact of the higher Petrol Levy and ongoing pricing adjustments.

In contrast, the government has provided some relief on kerosene oil. The price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs 63.60 per litre. After the cut, kerosene will now cost Rs 365.21 per litre. This reduction offers limited relief to consumers.

The recent increase comes after major price changes earlier this month. In early April, the government raised petrol prices by Rs 137.23 per litre. Diesel prices were increased by Rs 184.49 per litre. These large hikes caused concern among the public.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced a reduction in the Petrol Levy by Rs 80. At that time, petrol prices were adjusted to Rs 378 per litre. This showed how quickly fuel pricing policies can change.

The latest increase highlights ongoing volatility in fuel prices. It also reflects the governmentโ€™s reliance on the Petrol Levy as a key source of revenue. Consumers continue to face uncertainty due to frequent price changes.

Experts say such fluctuations may impact inflation and daily expenses. Transport and goods costs are likely to rise further. The government may review prices again depending on global oil trends.

Overall, the increase in the Petrol Levy has played a major role in the latest fuel price hike.
