US Launches Fresh Strikes in Iran Despite Ceasefire Amid Ongoing Diplomatic Talks

The United States has launched fresh Strikes in southern Iran during the ongoing ceasefire period, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). American officials said the operation targeted drone-launching facilities and Iranian boats that were allegedly involved in laying naval mines near strategic waterways.

CENTCOM described the latest Strikes as defensive actions meant to protect US military personnel stationed in the region. The command stated that American forces would continue to act with restraint while ensuring the safety and security of their troops.

According to the statement, the airstrikes focused on facilities believed to support military drone operations. Several boats near southern Iranian coastal areas were also targeted during the operation. US officials claimed these vessels were connected to activities involving naval mines.

Iranian media later reported that the situation in Bandar Abbas remained stable after the attacks. Authorities there said there was no immediate danger to residents or critical infrastructure in the region.

The latest Strikes came as diplomatic discussions between the United States and Iran continued behind the scenes. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Strait of Hormuz must remain open under all circumstances because of its importance to global trade and energy supplies.

Rubio stated that negotiations regarding a possible agreement with Iran were still ongoing. He explained that talks over specific terms and clauses could continue for several more days before any final decision is reached. The US official also confirmed that discussions involving Iranian representatives were taking place in Qatar.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump appeared to signal a softer approach regarding Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump suggested several possible options for handling the material.

He said the enriched uranium could either be transferred to the United States for disposal or destroyed at its current location. Another mutually agreed site could also be used in coordination with Iran. Trump added that the process would likely be supervised by an international nuclear monitoring authority or a similar organization.

Earlier, Trump claimed Iran was willing to hand over its damaged enriched uranium reserves as part of efforts to finalize an agreement. The proposed deal aims to reduce tensions and prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
