A key White House meeting on the proposed Iran ceasefire agreement ended without a final decision, leaving the future of the negotiations uncertain.
The high-level discussions were led by US President Donald Trump and took place in the White House Situation Room. According to reports, the meeting lasted nearly two hours and focused on recent developments surrounding Iran and the ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire arrangement.
Officials confirmed that no final resolution was reached during the session. However, they did not provide further details about the discussions or the next steps in the negotiations.
The meeting came shortly after President Trump announced that the United States would lift its naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. The move allows ships that had been delayed in the strategic waterway to continue their journeys.
Trump described the US naval mission in the region as a success. He said the operations helped safeguard international trade routes and maintain the flow of global energy supplies. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping lanes for oil and gas exports.
Despite these statements, Iran has publicly rejected several claims made by the US president regarding the proposed Deal. Iranian officials denied reports suggesting that Tehran had agreed to major concessions, including the removal of enriched uranium and the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian news agency Fars cited informed sources who questioned Trump’s description of the negotiations. According to those sources, some of the president’s statements were accurate, while others were exaggerated. They claimed that Trump was attempting to present the situation as a diplomatic victory.
The sources further stated that the draft Deal currently under discussion does not contain several provisions highlighted by Trump. They said the agreement does not include the complete destruction of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile or an unconditional reopening of the key shipping route.
Iranian sources also claimed that important provisions favorable to Tehran were left out of Trump’s public remarks. These reportedly include proposals to release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and measures aimed at securing a full ceasefire in Lebanon.
