The government of Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in aviation costs by lowering jet fuel rates. The latest Fuel Price cut has provided major relief to airlines and aviation operators across the country.
According to Pakistan State Oil (PSO), the price of jet fuel for large aircraft has been reduced by Rs. 48.80 per liter. The new rate is now set at Rs. 283.52 per liter. This reduction is expected to ease operational pressure on airlines.
Officials say the change in Fuel Price will likely lead to lower airfares in the coming weeks. It is seen as a positive step for both passengers and the aviation industry.
The move comes shortly after the government reduced petrol and diesel prices. High-speed diesel and petrol were both cut by Rs. 22 per liter. This broader adjustment in Fuel Price trends reflects efforts to manage inflation and transport costs.
After the latest revision, high-speed diesel is priced at Rs. 380.78 per liter. Petrol has been fixed at Rs. 381.78 per liter. These adjustments follow a series of global oil price fluctuations.
Authorities noted that jet fuel prices had previously reached record highs. At one point, rates climbed to Rs. 517 per liter during global tensions in the Middle East. Before that, the price was around Rs. 188 per liter.
The government had increased Fuel Price multiple times in recent months due to supply pressures and global market instability. Airlines were forced to raise ticket prices during that period.
In March, jet fuel prices were increased several times within a short span. Officials cited global conflict-related oil disruptions as the main reason behind the hikes.
A single-day increase of Rs. 83 per liter was also recorded earlier in the year. Later, another increase pushed the rate to Rs. 476.97 per liter.
Industry experts believe the latest reduction will help stabilize airline operations. It may also encourage more domestic and international travel.
The aviation sector is expected to benefit as fuel costs form a major part of airline expenses. A stable Fuel Price environment is likely to support long-term growth in the industry.
